HANDFASTING CELEBRANT FOR DORSET, SOMERSET & WILTSHIRE

Handfasting, an ancient Celtic Unity ritual

Hand-fasting dates back over 2000 years. It is used in ceremonies to to symbolise the binding together of their separate lives and the commitment they’re making together. It is a symbolic unity ritual in which a couple stand face to face as their hands are (loosely) tied together – hence the phrase, tying the knot! Words of commitment/vows can be expressed.

We use a hand-fasting cord which can be home-made or bought. Ribbons, lengths of fabric, lace, colours and special memento’s can be included. Ideally it is about 3 metres long, so it can loop around your wrists and hands.

After the ceremony, you’ll have your cord as a keepsake of your vows.
